Tianna Bartoletta has competed and won on every level. Nine state titles while in high school in Ohio. While in college at the University of Tennessee Tianna earned SEC, NCAA Indoor and NCAA Outdoor championships in the Long Jump. As a professional Ms. Bartoletta has continued her championship success.

Charles Ryan - Hurdles

University of California

A Bay area native, coach Ryan returns home to join the Cal Bears Track & Field staff after spending the past four years at Alabama State. While there, Ryan helped the Hornets to 10 SWAC Championships including seven during indoor track & field as the Hornets showcased their speed on both the men’s and women’s side. He also coached individuals to 33 conference championships, eight school records and 37 berths at the NCAA Championship. Click here to see more about Coach Ryan.

Coach Smith’s has built a great reputation in her 17 years as a collegiate coach following 13 year competitive career including NAIA All-American honors. As a coach Smith has guided over 30 NCAA Regional qualifiers, 13 National qualifiers, an Olympic Trials qualifier and countless all-conference athletes. Coach Smith is also an active USATF Level 1 and Level 2 certified instructor.

Coaching the Young Female Runner - Panel Discussion

Laura Caldwell had a very successful coaching career at Lake Oswego HS in XC and Track and Field. Later she coached college runners at Furman University, and is currently coaching professional athletes at the Greenville Track Club Elite . 

Kathy Mills Parker is a veteran distance coach of 14 years at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon in both Cross Country and Track. As a competitor, Kathy won the first New York State HS Girls Cross Championships, the AIAW 1977 National Cross Country Championships while at Penn State, and set a World Record on the track in 1978 in the 5K. 

Melissa Hill has coached running teams at all levels. From youth teams and high school to post collegiate athletes and adults, Melissa Hill is a coach with extraordinary experience and knowledge. Her company, Runner2Runner has grown to 3 states and impacts thousands of runners each year. Melissa ran the 400m hurdles and XC at Texas Tech University.

PT Shawn Dailey of Therapeutics Associates in Lake Oswego and Nike has worked extensively with high school, college, and professional athletes.

Nutritionist Michelle Tegankamp, former All American distance runner at Michigan State University, works with the Portland Trail Blazers and the University of Portland, as well as high school, college and professional athletes.  

Coach Marie Davis Markham, former Oregon HS State Champion in Track and XC, an All American at the  University of Oregon, and now coaches the girl distance runners at her alma mater, Lincoln HS in Portland, Oregon.
